Streams are the continuous sibling of autopay. Autopay suits fixed obligations that occur on dates — rent, a subscription. Streams suit things that accrue with time — salary, a vesting schedule, a retainer being drawn down.
Because the float has not left your wallet, it can sit in an Earn vault while it waits. Each settlement unwinds only the slice that has actually vested, so payroll keeps earning right up until each dollar lands.
Start a stream
- 1
Open Streams and tap New stream.
- 2
Choose the recipient by address or @handle.
- 3
Set the rate and the duration.
The app shows the implied total. That figure becomes the allowance cap.
- 4
Sign the allowance once.
- 5
Share the stream with the recipient so they can watch it accrue and claim.
Claiming is their on-chain transaction, so they choose when to pay the gas — batching a month is cheaper than claiming hourly.
- 6
Cancel from the stream's detail screen if circumstances change.
Cancelling stops future accrual. Value that has already vested still belongs to the recipient.
Good to know
- Streams are a stablecoin feature, for the same allowance reason as autopay.
- A stream is not a promise the app enforces socially — it is an on-chain authorisation. If you revoke it, accrual stops, and the recipient sees that.
Frequently asked
Whenever they claim. Value vests continuously, and claiming settles the vested portion on-chain at a moment of their choosing.
No. It stays yours, under an allowance, until it is claimed. That is what allows the float to keep earning in the meantime.
You can stream to any address on a supported chain. They need a wallet that can sign the claim transaction to collect it.
